Freemasonry in Austin, Texas has been around since before there was a City of Austin. It was founded in the home of the first mayor of Austin: Judge Edwin Waller on October 11, 1839. The charter was issued by the Grand Lodge of Texas on November 7, 1839. The City of Austin was established on December 27, 1839.
Since then there have been many more Masonic Lodges founded by members of Austin Lodge No. 12 in Central Texas.
